About Ed

I began learning about Chinese Medicine in 1989 or so. At that time I thought I was falling apart. I was tired, my back hurt and I was often sick with a cold. I made several attempts to help myself, but, I always failed. For example, I was told that my diet was poor and that I should eat more raw vegetables- more salads. I did this and my health worsened.

When I started reading about Chinese Medicine, I began to understand how the cold and relatively hard to digest uncooked vegetables were affecting me. I was already cold and my digestion was poor. The cold vegetables only pushed me further in that direction. When I found a Doctor of Chinese Medicine- Cindy Xu, she helped me to understand this and showed me some better choices of food.

Once I started to get stronger, I wanted to learn Tai Qi Chuan. This is that slow moving exercise you see the old folks doing in the morning in the parks in China. It is a Martial Art, but, I never had much interest in that side of it. I wanted to learn it to improve my health. Between the herbs and the Tai Qi Chuan, my back began feeling better right away.

As I studied Tai Qi Chuan with Sifu David Dunn, I found that the underlying Qi Gong was what I wanted to focus on. This was where the power was. I wasn't looking to use it for fighting, just for healing myself.

Not long after beginning to learn Tai Qi Chuan, I met a Qi Gong teacher, Grandmaster Fu Wei Zhong. He gave a demonstration of the healing abilities of Qi Gong that convinced me that Qi Gong was what I wanted and needed to study and that Grandmaster Fu was the teacher I wanted and needed to study with. At that time, I didn't even consider that I might be able to help other people with what I might learn, just myself. I have been studying with him ever since and early in 2001 passed his test to become an Emei Linji Qi Gong Master.

My interest now is to help other people. I treat people when there is a need and I teach when I find people who want to learn. I am building this Internet store to reach more people who are interested in helping themselves. I intend to publish information here to help you to understand Chinese Medicine. You can use this information, as well as everything else you read, to understand your own health and how the things you do affect it. Herbal medicine is just one way to improve your health. As you learn more, you will be able to see how it all fits together.

You don't need to be a doctor, but, the more you know, the better able you will be to help yourself (and others.) Take charge of your own self!
